GYM

[asu.edu]

One of the most common areas where students and staff from Arizona State University go to exercise is the Student Recreational Center. This building is located in the middle of the university at the end of Palm Walk and right next to the W.P Carey School of Business. This building provides students with a weight room, circuit training room, swimming pool, tennis courts, racquetball courts, and dance rooms and is big enough for everyone to find something to do. This building basically has everything you may need in order to accomplish your exercise routines. Based on a fifty people survey I made I was able to conclude that about 75 percent of people who attend ASU think that the best way to exercise is by going to this building. Everyone seems to think that the Student Recreational Center is the most convenient and effective way of exercising on campus. The gym offers great equipment for everyone to use including treadmills and steppers with televisions on them to make exercising even better. The televisions allow people to exercise without having to worry about missing their favorite television shows and helps time go faster while working out. This is something many people, especially the girls, like about coming to the gym.

Another reason why so many people come to the Student Recreational Center is because they live in Arizona where it is 100 degrees Fahrenheit and they just don’t want to exercise in the heat.  The gym is such a common place to work out that according to a newspaper article in the Ottawa Citizen it has developed its own culture (Roman 1). Even though many people that go to the gym take their work outs seriously, many people go to make an impression and to ‘stare at themselves in the mirror’ (Roman 1). That is the only inconvenience that students and staff see in going to the gym, which is why the gym is not for everyone.
